Lewisboro Cops Aid Search For Patients Who Return On Their Own

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – Two female patients ran away from Four Winds Hospital last week prompting a search by the State Police and the Lewisboro Police Department, but the patients returned unharmed on their own after several hours, police said.

Police were called to the hospital at around 6:28 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, for a missing persons report. Hospital officials gave police a description of the individuals and the search began. After about an hour, police decided to call off the search and contact the patients’ parents and enter the information in the computer database, police said. About 20 minutes later, the officers were notified that the patients had returned.

The following items were reported by the Lewisboro police:

On Monday, Sept. 3, police were called to the intersection of Spring Street and Pound Ridge Road for a motorcycle accident. The driver sustained a minor injury to her lower right leg and the bike was towed to her residence.

On Tuesday, Sept. 4, an officer patrolling on North Salem Road in Cross River noticed that the flashing school zone lights in from of John Jay High School were not working properly. The lights were working for northbound traffic, but not for southbound traffic. The problem was reported to the town highway department in the past, but the police department said it will contact the school district to see who is responsible for the lights.

Police received a report of a tree branch blocking Pound Ridge Road on Saturday. The caller indicated the branch was hanging over the guardrail and it was requested that officers put out flares to warn traffic. Yellow barrier tape was also hung from the branch like steamers in an effort to alert motorists traveling south. The Department of Transportation was notified and the problem was remedied within an hour.

On Sunday, police were called to the upper field at Fox Valley Town Park on Indian Hill Road for an injured soccer player. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a visiting player from New Rochelle had sustained a broken leg after colliding with another player. Westchester EMS, Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Goldens Bridge Fire Department were already on the scene administering aid. The patient was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital for further treatment.
