NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- A Bronx man with more than 20 suspensions on his license was arrested after leading state police on a high-speed chase on I-684 that ended with the driver crashing on Route 22 in North Salem, according to State Police.

State police attempted to stop Anthony Powell on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. when he was allegedly spotted going 89 mph on I-684. When police attempted to pull Powell over, he reportedly sped up to speeds around 100 mph, weaving in and out of lanes.

Powell then exited I-684 at Exit 6A towards Goldens Bridge where police pursued him into North Salem. He then crashed his white Infiniti SUV into a cement pillar.

Powell is charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and numerous vehicle and traffic violations in the jurisdictions of Bedford, Lewisboro and North Salem.

Powell was arraigned in the Town of Bedford Court and remanded to Westchester County Jail on $2,500 cash bail.

What the !@#+! with $2500?
With 20 suspension and the local violations that's less that $100 per...!
Was the judge or the clerk asleep?
I demand a rebooking and add a couple of Zero and coma.

Do you think they impounded his Lexus, or wash and waxed it for him?

wow, i was showing homes in that area, and chose to take rt 138 to get to get there, and elected to not to use 684 because it would of took me out of the way. guess an angel was looking out, god knows what would of happened if i did.

What is wrong with us?
20 suspensions on his license and he is driving 100 mph through Bedford, Lewisboro and North Salem. Bail that requires $2,500 cash... That is a joke. He is driving an Infinity SUV so he either stole it or has the money for bail. He could have killed one of us. He has had 20 suspensions..20 chances...this guy needs to be where he belongs,,behind bars!

I have to say I was also shocked that his bail is $2500. He could have killed many people with his actions - and 20 suspensions? This is very upsetting. How/Where does one question such a decision? Anyone know?

it's up to the judge to set bail!! this is outrageous !!!

$2,500. Bail only! Look out for this constant violator. It will cost the taxpayers more than $2,500. just to pay for the Police overtime and gas.
