McKeon, 67, had dementia and Parkinson's disease, according to an Active Vulnerable Adult alert was issued by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, sparking a search that extended well beyond his hometown.

On a Facebook page dedicated to the search, Sara McKeon Almeida wrote, "It is with great sadness that we let you all know that our father was found today and has passed on."

She continued, "We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support of our friends, family and complete strangers that took time to pray, put up fliers and search."

The post also implored people to continue praying for the family.

The Facebook group, called Missing Man from Somers N.Y., served as a forum for McKeon's search, with updates provided on the process.

New York State Police sent out an alert about McKeon's death. The discovery of his body came following a report from a worker who was passing through a wooded area near Route 202, according to the alert. The worker then reported the discovery to searchers.

There are no signs of foul play, according to the police alert, which added that the cause of death is pending an autopsy.

McKeon's death was first reported Thursday by LoHud.com, which stated that his body was found in woods between Route 202 and Boniello Drive. The paper also reported on the coincidental birth of his granddaughter, Caitlin Theresa O'Connor, at Mount Kisco's Northern Westchester Hospital.
