LEWISBORO, N.Y. A Lewisboro resident reported her $10,000 diamond ring missing after a cable company employee had been in her home changing a cable box, police say.
Police were called to the woman's Woodway Road home Saturday and told she had put her diamond engagement ring in a bedroom dresser draw on Wednesday couldn't find when she looked for it Thursday. The diamond was described as a 1-carat pear-shaped stone set in a gold band. It has an estimated value of $9,600.
The woman said a cable company employee had come to her home Thursday and had been in the bedroom to change the cable box. She said she contacted the cable company and was told a supervisor would be back in touch with her.
Lewisboro and State Police are investigating.

On Thursday, Sept. 13, Lewisboro police were called to a Hemlock Road residence in South Salem for a possible overdose. The husband told officers he found his wife on the living room floor in a semi-conscious state and was unsure what medications she might have taken. She was responsive when emergency personal arrived and was transported to Norwalk Hospital.
Police were called to a home on Adams Hill Road in South Salem on Thursday, Sept. 13, by a resident who said there was a dead deer on his property. He said he had heard shots fired the previous evening and discovered a half-eaten deer carcass on his stone wall that morning. Police said the carcass had apparently been eaten by coyotes and was removed.
Police were called to the animal hospital on Route 35 in South Salem for a larceny report. An employee said one of the dog statues that sits along the driveway was stolen during the night. She did not know the value of the statue or the material from which it was made. Police checked the area but did not find the statue. There were no surveillance cameras on the property.
Police were dispatched to the intersection of Smith Ridge Road and Spring Hill Road on Saturday for a bicycle accident. Witnesses told police a female cyclist was traveling north on Smith Ridge Road when a vehicle made a left-hand turn onto Spring Hill Road, causing her to stop short and fall over the handlebars. She received lacerations on her arms and legs and also complained of back pain. The vehicle left the scene and no one could provide identification information. The cyclist was transported to Norwalk Hospital by the Vista Fire Department.
Police received a report on Sunday that someone had driven through the flower-decorated island at the intersection of Schoolhouse Road and Mead Street in Waccabuc and that the street sign had been knocked down and removed. There was considerable damage to the flowers and shrubbery, and tire tracks were visible. Damage was estimated to be around $700.
