Letter: Donohue Needed As Lewisboro Town Clerk

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – The Lewisboro Daily Voice accepts signed, original letters to the editor. To submit your letter, email bdumas@dailyvoice.com.

To the Editor:

I initially hoped Supervisor Parsons’ vote to appoint Janet Donohue to succeed Kathy Cory as town clerk was confirmation of his pledge to return civility to Lewisboro government. I was quickly disabused by his later endorsement of Jeff Morris.

People know Janet for her involvement in the community as an active mom and as Cory's able, helpful deputy. In sharp contrast, Mr. Morris is a political operative whose writing can often be disingenuous and cruel.

A town clerk should understand plagiarism. Yet when Mr. Morris accused Councilman DeLucia of it, the Lewisboro Ledger's editor had to print a retraction.

As the mother of a young professional daughter, I will not easily forget the highly inappropriate and demeaning comments Mr. Morris made about Councilwoman Sue Whalen, the mother of four, in his tirade against her and Melissa Cunniffe.

This is not the type of person we need as our town clerk.
