Richard R. Nemeth, 79, Of Goldens Bridge, Merchant Marines Veteran

GOLDENS BRIDGE, N.Y. - Richard R. Nemeth, formerly of Goldens Bridge, died Monday, Sept. 29. He was 79.

Nemeth was born Oct. 22, 1934, in Ramsey, Ohio, to Henry and Nellie (Drobis) Nemeth. He served with the U. S. Merchant Marines. He was a graduate of SUNY Maritime College in Fort Schuyler.

Nemeth is survived by his sons, Robert R. (Dina) Nemeth of Bedford, John C. (Ursula) Nemeth of Poughquag; daughters, Lynne M. Nemeth and Karen Hardy of Elmira; four  grandchildren; brother, Edward Nemeth of Florida; sister, Mildred Barreiro of Ossining; companion, Gail Fritz of Elmira; several nieces, nephews; and in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents; wife Barbara Jean (Louch) Nemeth; and sister, Mary Ignac.

Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 3 from 4 to 4:45 p.m. at the McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Deacon George Welch officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the conclusion of the service.
