Edward Dusenberry, 89, South Salem WWII Veteran

SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. – Edward Welker Dusenberry of South Salem died Oct. 21 at his home. He was 89.

Dusenberry was born March 5, 1923, in Brooklyn to Marion Storrs Welker and Charles King Dusenberry. He graduated from Briarcliff Manor High School, studied at Colorado A&M University and graduated from the University of Vermont with a bachelor's degree.

He served in the Navy during World War II and was a former vice president of Hoffman Publications. Dusenberry also worked in executive sales positions in the pharmaceutical and publishing industries and later worked as a licensed real estate broker.

Dusenberry was active in the Sons of the American Revolution, Holland Society, Lewisboro Lions Club and Lewisboro Senior Citizens. He loved history and was a dedicated researcher of his family's genealogy. He and his wife, Joan, were longtime supporters of the Westchester ARC.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Doyle Dusenberry of South Salem; a son, Peter Dusenberry of Pound Ridge; and three daughters, Nancy Dusenberry of White Plains, Jill Dusenberry of Fairfax, Va., and Linda Dusenberry of Webster, N.H. He was predeceased by a sister, Florence Evelyn Drury, whose children he helped support after her death.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Westchester ARC, 265 Saw Mill River Road, Hawthorne, NY 10532.
