YORKTOWN, N.Y. – A small plane was forced to make a crash landing in Yorktown on Friday, at the IBM campus on Route 134 and Pines Bridge Road around 4:35 p.m.

"It's a miracle. It really is," said Yorktown Police Lt. Robert Noble,"It's a miracle there were no fatalities, It's a tragedy that was averted."

According to Yorktown Police Officer Scott Sage, two occupants were removed from the plane and transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for treatment of their injuries. The two, who were not identified, were conscious and talking, Sage said. Noble said the injuries the two men sustained were not believed to be life-threatening. The pilot and his passenger were the only two on board the plane at the time of the crash, he said.

Michell Cambareri of Crow Hill Road in Yorktown was playing with her son outside when she saw the plane tilting in the air and heard it from the distance, "I was just concerned that it was going to crash nearby. It sounded like the pilot was trying to reboot the engines. It was sputtering."

Lt. Noble says a preliminary investigation indicated that the plane originated at Teterboro airport in New Jersey and was being diverted to Westchester County Airport when it was forced to make the emergency landing on a hilly, grassy lawn located close to the entrance of IBM's TJ Watson Research Center Entrance near Pines Bridge Road.
