Things To Do In The Area This Weekend

Pound Ridge 4th of July Celebration: Saturday, July 2, from 6 to 10 p.m. Buses will transport residents from both the Pound Ridge Elementary School and the Scotts Corners Market Parking Lots to the Town Park and back again after the fireworks from 4 p.m. to the conclusion of the event. The pool will be open until 8 p.m., however, all personal cars must be removed from the parking lot by 4 p.m. There will be no parking at the Town Park. Handicapped parking and seniors can park at the Town House with a shuttle to and from the Town Park. T-shirts will be sold during the event for $25 to help support the event.

Wolf Conservation Center in Lewisboro: Families with children ages six and up can celebrate the newest additions to the Wolf Conservation Center family – two new ambassador wolf pups! Enjoy visiting the wolves during their favorite hour - dusk. Learn about the mythology, biology and ecology of wolf families and discover why summer is a magical time for packs in North America. This time of year, wolves are out searching for prey for their growing pups. Guests will take a short sunset hike to howl with ambassador wolf Atka and to behold the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican wolves. The WCC’s ambassador wolf pups - all ears and paws – will also be on view so don’t forget a camera. All guests will be served weather appropriate treats. Please bring flashlights. Caramoor, 149 Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah, presents: American Roots Music Festival, Saturday, July 2. Begins at 12:30 p.m. and continues all day throughout the grounds. Tickets are $20, $30 and $40 and the show will feature James Maddock, The Sweetback Sisters, Brother Sun, Spuyten Duyvil, Ollabelle, and The David Grisman Folk Trio. Caramoor’s Pops, Patriots and Fireworks will be held at its Venetian Theater, Sunday, July 2, 4:30 p.m, Tickets are $30 and $40. The music will be provided by Orchestra of St. Luke’s with conductor Michael Barrett and feature the compositions of George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, Scott Joplin, and John Phillips Sousa. The Bedford-Armonk Rotary Club will hold a July 4th Jamboree at the John Jay Homestead, 400 Jay St., Katonah, Monday, July 4, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds from the event will help support the John Jay Homestead, SPCA of Westchester and local community organizations. There will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a hayride, live music, food and refreshments, colonial games and races, doggie parade, SPCA adoption, lamb petting zoo, blacksmith, and a patriotic cake decorating contest.
