News of Tinter's switch was announced at her latest meeting on Thursday morning. The hearing officer, Steven Kasarda, adjourned Tinter's case to June 17, with a possible second date of June 21.
Thursday was supposed to have been the last date of the disciplinary hearing, according to Richard Zuckerman, who is the library's counsel.
Tinter, who has been suspended since Dec. 1, requested a 3-week adjournment, Kasarda said.
Tinter declined to comment on why she is seeking a new lawyer. Previous hearing meetings included heated exchanges and testimony, according to published reports.
Tinter, who has worked at the library for 40 years, is accused of seeking to inflate the library's circulation data, breaching personnel confidentiality, intimidating and individual and failing to properly oversee attendee information for staff. The longtime director vehemently denies the charges, telling Daily Voice that they are "not true."
