South Salem's Wolf Conservation Center Offers Year-End Thanks

SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. — A special video expressing thanks was prepared by The Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, whose mission is to teach the public about wolves.

Founded in 1999 by Hélène Grimaud, the WCC is a private, not-for-profit environmental education organization. Over 20 wolves live on the center’s 26 acres off Buck Run, including rare Mexican gray wolves and red wolves. Both species at one time were completely extinct in the wild.

The WCC’s mission is to promote wolf conservation by teaching about wolves, their relationship to the environment and the human role in protecting their future. On-site and off-site educational programs emphasize wolf biology, the ecological benefits of wolves, and the current status of wolf recovery in the United States.

The WCC needs the public’s help to ensure that someday wolves roam wild, no species lives near extinction, and where children learn about and respect these animals.
