South Salem Bicyclist Killed in Accident

LEWISBORO, N.Y. - A 30-year-old South Salem man was killed Friday night when he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle along Route 35.

Police said Dylan P. Pidgeon was traveling westbound on Route 35 near Spring Street at about 9:45 p.m. when he was struck by a 2009 gray Volkswagen. Police did not identify the driver of the Volkswagen, who told police she did not see Pidgeon.

A witness told police she was driving east on Route 35 when she saw Pidgeon traveling westbound in her lane. She said he crossed over the double yellow lines and was struck.

Police said the Pidgeon had not been wearing any type of vest or reflectors. Pidgeon was treated at the scene and transported by Lewisboro Ambulance to Norwalk Hospital, where he died.

Traffic on Route 35 was closed between Spring Street and Route 124 for nearly two hours following the accident.

New York State Police are investigating.
