WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — As a result of high winds, low relative humidity and little rain, Westchester County Parks Commissioner Kathleen O’Connor has announced a ban on open fires at all county parks.

While the ban is in effect, charcoal and propane fires will be permitted only for cooking and only in permanently fixed grills in the parks. No open fires will be permitted.

O'Connor also asked that patrons be vigilant in alerting park staff to any potential fire hazards they see while visiting. Conditions will be monitored daily until the ban is lifted.
