NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Recent sighting have given the Saks family of North Salem further hope that their missing wallaby, Indy, will be found and brought home.

Sightings of Indy have been reported throughout North Salem. On Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m., he was seen across from the high school. On Wednesday afternoon, there were multiple sightings of him at the high school, including the track and soccer fields. He's also been seen at Volunteer's Park, according to Susan Saks.

"He's survived the cold and found something to eat," Saks said.

Saks said if people see Indy, to describe the direction he goes in to make searching for him easier. Saks said Indy, a 6-year-old would only live in the wild until he is 3 or 4 due to predators.

"I wouldn't recommend him as a pet," Saks said. "He is adorable, but very high maintenance. He's social and since  he's neutered, he's not aggressive. He's very docile and shy."

Saks said Indy likes to eat roses and loves the outdoors and doesn't understand why he has to stay inside if it's cold out.

He also feeds on wheat thins, triskets, rice cakes and sweet potatoes. He has been on "Animal Planet," and recently taped an appearance with Martha Stewart.

"He's very sweet," Saks said. "We love him. His sweetness is endearing. He likes to be petted and is affectionate. He's a very well fed and is a very happy animal."

Saks said Indy can watch TV and follow the action.
