Lewisboro Town Pool Opens on Saturday

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – Meteorologists and almanac publishers may tell you that the first official day of summer is June 20. But for many of us, it begins Memorial Day weekend with parades, barbecues and the opening of the town pool.

Lewisboro opens its pool Saturday at 11 a.m. and, as is town tradition, the first day is free for all residents.

Recreation Director Dana Mayclim said the pool is in fine shape and ready for the weekend.

“The only thing that was a small speed bump was replacing some of the awnings that were damaged during the storm last October,” she said. “We are still waiting for two of them. They’ve been ordered and should come in sometime during the next two weeks.”

Mayclim said the pool water has been balanced and the area given a fresh coat of paint and the decks are being power-washed.

To use the pool, which is located at the Town Park on Route 35 in South Salem, residents need to acquire an ID card. Forms are available online at the town website (www.lewisborogov.com/government/de). New members and kids of members who are older than 2 also must get a permit with a photo ID. Applicants should complete and mail the card to the Recreation Department and then make an appointment to go in and have their photo taken. Those who were members last year should just send the registration and their check to the rec office. They can continue to use their card.

Membership fees for families are $425 before May 31 and $475 after. Individual memberships are $250 before May 31 and $300 after for those 16 and over. For children 2-15 years old, the fees are $225/$275. Seniors (62 and over) who are residents of the town pay $50, and seniors who are residents of the Katonah-Lewisboro school district pay $100.

Pool hours for weekdays are 3:30-7:30 p.m., May 29 through June 13; noon-7:30 p.m., June 18 through Aug. 8; 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Aug. 6-31. Weekend hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. until the pool closes on Sept. 2.

Public swim lessons are available for both members and non-members. For more information, contact the rec office at 914-232-6162.
