LEWISBORO, N.Y. – Several locations throughout Lewisboro are serving as cooling stations for town residents seeking relief from the heat wave that is expected to last through the end of the week.
Lewisboro Town Clerk Janet Donohue said people are welcome to come to the Town House at 11 Main St. during its regular hours of 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
“We have the AC going, and people are welcome to come and hang out in the meeting room if they want to,” she said.
Dana Mayclim, superintendent of the Parks & Recreation department, said its offices at 65 Old Bedford Road in Goldens Bridge are also open to anyone looking for a place to cool off. The offices are normally open until 5 p.m., but Mayclim noted that she will remain there until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Mayclim also pointed out that the town pool at the park on Route 35 is in full swing. Weekday hours are noon - 7:30 p.m. and weekend hours are 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. You must be a Lewisboro resident to use the pool, and a permit is required. Call the recreation offices for more information at 914-232-6162.
Lewisboro Library Director Cindy Rubino said people can also use the library as a refuge from the heat.
“We are not an official cooling station, but people are certainly welcome,” she said.
Library hours during the heat wave are Wednesday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
