Lewisboro GOP Slates Kickoff Party For Candidates

The Lewisboro Republican Town Committee will host a 2011 Kickoff Party at One Twenty Three Restaurant in Vista next Tuesday.

Heading the ticket is current Town Supervisor Charlie Duffy, who is making a bid to become Lewisboro's first two-term supervisor in over a decade.

In a recent letter, Wayne Coluccini, town GOP chair, told supporters that electing Duffy as supervisor had been an important first step in returning Lewisboro’s finances to a sound footing, noting how Duffy, who is a CPA and MBA, had ended the double-digit tax increases and deficit spending of the prior town administration, and taken the steps necessary to preserve the town’s bond rating by beginning to restore the $1 million budget deficit he inherited.

Duffy’s Town Board running mates are Rhea Mallett and John Pappalardo.

Mallett is the mother of two and the current co-president of the Increase Miller PTA.  A graduate of Amherst College and Columbia Law School, her career includes several non-profit and New York City government positions, including executive director of the Commission to Combat Family Violence during the tenure of Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.

Pappalardo, the father of three, is an active volunteer, especially for sports organizations and in the youth community.  He is president of the Lewisboro Lions Club, where he founded the Leos youth group and is partner in a White Plains law firm where he specializes in litigation of family matters.

Also running for re-election is Town Clerk Kathy Cory, who was chosen Clerk of the Year for 2010 by the NYS Town Clerks Association and has been the Lewisboro clerk for nearly three decades, and Steve Hill, who is running for highway superintendent, a position he held previously for three terms from 1998 to 2003.

One Twenty Three Restaurant is at 407 Smith Ridge Road (Route 123) South Salem.  The event is from 6:30 to 9 p.m.  Tickets are $35 per person in advance and $40 at the door, which includes one complimentary cocktail and hors d’oeuvres.  PayPal is available at lewisborogop.org.
