LEWISBORO, N.Y. – Residents who are still suffering from power outages in the wake of Hurricane Irene can go to any of the town’s three firehouses (Goldens Bridge, South Salem and Vista) for dry ice, bottled water and meals.

Vista fire officials say they have plenty of water available and also have showers at their fire house. They also have charging stations for electronic devices and free Wi-Fi.  Residents can also use the showers at the Town Park near the pool during regular pool hours. However, as of Thursday afternoon, the pool is still not open as the staff works to balance the water chemistry.

As of 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon, 60 percent of the town’s power had been restored. NYSEG reports that there are still about 2,000 customers without power.

“The demand [for dry ice and water] is dwindling as the power starts to come back on,” said Town Clerk Kathy Cory.

Officials say it is best to call the firehouse or town hall regarding dry ice, water and meal availability. The town hall number is (914) 763-3511.

The Lewisboro Library also has charging stations, free Wi-Fi, and public computers for those who need to get online.
