Learn 'Effective Parenting' At Drug Abuse Prevention Council Workshops

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Being an effective parent is what the Bedford, Lewisboro, Pound Ridge Drug Abuse Prevention Council "Systematic Training for Effective Parenting" (STEP) classes will begin Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Bedford Presbyterian Church.

The popular STEP workshops are designed to provide parents with effective strategies and techniques to improve their parenting skills. The format includes weekly readings, group discussions and follow up activities. 

Parents will learn how to determine if their parenting style strategies encourage communication and cooperation in the family; practical ways to avoid power struggles; and ways to build on a child’s strengths to develop courage and self-esteem. 

The classes will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 16, Jan. 23, and Jan. 30 at the church, 44 Village Green.
