ESPN Writer Fears Search For Missing Son 'Will Not End Well'

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – ESPN senior writer Ivan Maisel thanked the Rochester Police for their help trying to locate his son Max, a Fairfield student who has been missing for one week, though said he fears the search "will not end well."

"We want to thank the Rochester Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies for their heroic work in severe conditions," Ivan Maisel said in a Tweet Sunday night. "While they have urged us not to leap to any conclusions about Max's fate, logic indicates it will not end well."

Max Maisel, the 21-year-old son of Ivan Maisel, was last seen Sunday evening leaving the Perkins Green apartment complex on the upsate New York campus of the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is a third-year professional photographic illustration student at RIT.

His car was found Monday near the Charlotte Pier at Lake Ontario on the New York/Canadian border.

The Rochester Police searched the icy waters of Lake Ontario on Thursday in an effort to locate the student.

"We continue to be buoyed by the love and support of friends and family from across the country," Ivan Maisel wrote.
