DeCicco Market Officially Opens For Business

CROSS RIVER, N.Y. – DeCicco Family Markets officially opened for business on Friday in Cross River Plaza, following a special VIP reception held the night before, and attended by more than 100 town officials and community members.

Since it was made known in June that DeCicco’s would move into the space formerly occupied by D’Agostino, the news has been met with excitement and anticipation throughout Lewisboro.

“DeCicco’s decision to come here has been the talk of the town for months, and this special day to celebrate has finally arrived,” said Supervisor Charles Duffy. “Having a great food market right around the corner is one of the most important things our town could ever ask for. DeCicco’s arrival will only have a positive impact on other businesses in and around the plaza.”

Frank DeCicco, manager of the new Cross River store, said that he that he has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support shown by the Lewisboro community for his namesake food market.

“My family and our employees are so grateful for the warm welcome we have received from everyone in this community,” said DeCicco, who, with his father Frank Sr. and brother in-law James Capriotti oversaw the renovation of the store. “It’s been overwhelming. This was a dark and dreary space when we first got here. It was a struggle, but we pulled it off.”

County Legislator Peter Harckham said that the store’s opening would be a boon to the local economy.

“It’s a wonderful investment in Lewisboro,” he said. “It will create jobs. We are just thankful that they chose us for their location.”

Ed Cantine, co-president of the Lewisboro Chamber of Commerce, said the impact of the new DeCicco store can already be felt throughout the town.

“The opening of DeCicco’s Family Markets right here in Cross River has already had a far reaching impact on Lewisboro, in that it serves to bring our community together and help other businesses in the area,” he said. “We welcome Frank and his family to our town, and encourage everyone to shop local.”

DeCicco’s has locations throughout Westchester, Rockland and Putnam. It is a family-owned business that was established in 1972 in the Bronx by three brothers—Frank, John and Joe—sharing a passion for food.

DeCicco promised that the company would be actively involved in the Lewisboro community.

“We try our best to support as many local programs as we can, but our major focus is on school districts in which we conduct business,” he said. “We donate one percent of sales to the local PTAs and permit them to use the funds as they deem appropriate. We plan to be here a long time, and helping our community be more successful is what it’s all about.”
