Specifics of the probe have not been released.

The State of New York, Westchester County District attorney’s office and the Croton-on-Hudson Police Department are collaborating on a joint investigation, a spokesman for state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli told LoHud in this Tax Watch report.

State and local officials -- including Croton's mayor and village manager -- declined to discuss the probe.

The Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department is a volunteer department that provides fire services to the village of Croton-on-Hudson, and the Mount Airy and Quaker Bridge fire protection districts in the Town of Cortlandt.

The local fire department responds to incidents along both the Croton and Hudson rivers, the Metro-North railroad yard at the Croton-Harmon station, Croton Point Park and Senasqua Park.
