Climber Injured in North Salem Woods

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - The North Salem Police Department was called late Monday afternoon after a young hiker was injured falling from a tree in a wooded area off Nash Road.

The 17-year-old victim had an injured leg and back pain, said Officer Michael Castellano. 

North Salem Police answered the call, along with the State Police and the fire departments of Croton Falls, Goldens Bridge and Somers. 

The accident occurred up a steep hill, about a mile into the woods, close to the North Salem- Lewisboro border. Once the victim was located he was taken by the Lewisboro Ambulance Corps to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
