WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. The local Democratic parties in Harrison and Pound Ridge have endorsed David Buchwald in his bid to win the Democratic nomination to run for the 89th Assembly District against incumbent Robert Castelli (R, C Goldens Bridge).
The Harrison Democratic Committee voted 17 to 1 to endorse Buchwald and the Pound Ridge Democratic Committee endorsed him unanimously. The endorsements follow on the heels of the White Plains Democratic City Committees decision to back Buchwald by a vote of 67 to 1.
David's strong credentials coupled with his commitment to our Westchester community made him an excellent choice, said Roslyn Stone-Pollock, chair of the Democratic Party in Pound Ridge. He understands the issues that are important to us in Pound Ridge and has the background and experience to best represent us in Albany. His work on the White Plains Common Council, the Metro-North advisory board, and in the community were important factors in our decision."
Buchwald also gained the support of a former challenger Dr. Clifford Gevirtz, a Harrison anesthesiologist who had been seeking the Democratic nomination for the assembly seat, withdrew prior to the Harrison vote.
"I support David Buchwald because he is a proven vote getter who has the right policies on economic development, the environment and transportation, Gevirtz said. He will represent not just Harrison but the entire assembly district with a true sense of caring about people and providing them a government they can be proud of."
Buchwald is a member of the White Plains Common Council and also serves as chair of the White Plains Traffic Commission, as a member of the Board of Trustees of the White Plains Historical Society, and as one of Westchester Countys representatives on the Metro-North Railroad Commuter Council (MNRCC).
