Ball Calls for Special Session on Job Creation

Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) is calling on Governor Cuomo to call the state legislature back to Albany for a special session on job creation.

The request comes in the wake of data that showed the number of people who have applied for unemployment benefits is at its highest in three months.

Ball represents the 40th Senate District, which includes Pound Ridge and Lewisboro.

"We passed a tax cap, balanced the budget and cut state spending, but we did very little to create jobs and grow the economy," Ball said. "Families are losing their homes, struggling to put food on the table and literally being forced out of the state to find employment. Session cannot wait until next year to get New Yorkers back to work. We are late and need to move forward on real job creation immediately."

Ball said he spent the summer working with leaders in economic development and has launched an Economic Development Advisory Committee. He noted that the state Senate has passed several bills for job creations but the Assembly and the governor are needed to sign them into law.

"I'm asking the governor and my legislative colleagues to collectively consider an immediate special session focused solely on jobs, jobs and more jobs," he said.

Other key initiatives Ball said he has launched in an effort to stimulate job creation include launching a one-stop career center website, hosting open house Fridays for the unemployed at his Brewster office and teaming up with local career and unemployment centers
