Art Show To Benefit Lewisboro Ambulance Corps

KATONAH, N.Y. – Local artist and photographer Jeff Vreeland will hold a benefit show for the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps, with the opening scheduled for Wednesday, 4-8 p.m., at the Garden Room of the Katonah Village Library.

Vreeland, a longtime South Salem resident, will show 57 artist proofs from his “Meditations of Wind on Water” collection.

The Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps has been serving the emergency medical needs of Lewisboro and Katonah since 1977. It is not funded by any town, state or government agency. It receives no tax money and does not charge for its services. All its funding is raised by the members themselves through annual events such as Vreeland’s art show and through letters of appeal.

Photography is the third medium that Vreeland has been exploring since graduating from the Purchase College, SUNY, School of Visual Arts in 1992. He said the “Meditations of Wind on Water” images were selected for this show because of their ability to “capture the magical, ethereal quality of nature reflected on the undulating surface of water, intermixed with sunlight, errant leaves, and other detritus both on/and below the surface of the water.”

The show will run through August during normal library hours. The library is at 26 Bedford Road in Katonah. For more information, call 914-533-6664.
