Millar attends Byram Hills High School and is a member of Boy Scout Troop 94. He has 36 merit badges, 21 more than needed to become an Eagle Scout.
The playground has four parts:
- Water table with interactive magnetic tubes where kids could play with the gravitational direction of water.
- Music area where PVC pipe was cut to create a giant xylophone, like one used by Blue Man Group.
- Water table and bubble wall.
- Backhoe for a sand pit.
Millar came up with the design and worked with construction professionals to finalize the project.
For the effort, Milarwas assisted by Debra Frankel of Temple Shaaray Tefila and "hundreds of hours" of volunteer work from friends and fellow scouts, he said. Ring Lumber donated the wood for the project. He has been a boy scout since first grade.
Throughout his time in the scouts, Millar has served in various leadership positions with Troop 94 -- two years as den chief, patrol leader, troop guide and soon to be assistant senior patrol leader. He participated in camping and outdoor activities, attended Camp Read, planned troop campouts, and is registered for the National Jamboree in 2017.
A freshman, he is an honor roll student and member of his school's debate and technology clubs.
