WACCABUC, N.Y. -- William Donaldson of Waccabuc, the former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, will be honored at the second annual StoryCorps Gala on Thursday, Oct. 9.

The 6:30 p.m. gala, hosted by Steven Colbert, will be held at Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York City. Paul G. Haaga and Patricia S. Harrison will also be honored at the gala. The gala celebrates the Military Voices Initiative.

Donaldson is currently the chairman of Donaldson Enterprises, a private investment firm. He is also a member of President Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board. He served as chairman of the SEC from February 2003 to June 2005. Donaldson, a graduate of Yale, also founded the Yale School of Management where he served as dean and professor of management studies.

StoryCorps’ mission is to provide people of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share and preserve stories. Since 2003, StoryCorps has collected and archived more than 50,000 interviews with over 90,000 participants. Each conversation is recorded on a CD to share, and is preserved at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

"StoryCorps is a great organization,'' Donaldson said. "It gives anybody, no matter their background, the chance to the story of their lives. It's a real time historical picture. It's a great cause."
