SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. - Maria Santa "Sandy" Ferentini, a 37-year resident of South Salem, died on Oct. 11 at Hudson Valley Hospital in Peekskill. She was 79.
Ferentini was born on Nov. 10, 1931 to Salvatore and Caterina DiCarlo. A medical records clerk in Katonah for 27 years, she was a graduate of Evander Childs School in the Bronx.
Sunday dinners and her "legendary" meatballs were beloved by generations of friends and family.
Ferentini is survived by her husband Orlando, her sons Joseph Ferentini and Thomas Ferentini of South Salem, her daughter Catherine of West Hartford, Conn., her sister Rose with husband Robert Spinna and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents.
Friends and family may visits on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah. The funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Katonah, with entombment to follow at Ferncliff Mausoleum in Hartsdale.
