Letter: Morris Lacks Qualifications For Lewisboro Town Clerk

To the Editor:

Jeff Morris claims he will “transform” the town clerk’s office, but won’t say how. I am skeptical. Apart from having no experience in municipal government, he has rarely attended Town Board meetings – not one of the 13 meetings held after he announced his candidacy, including last week's presentation and discussion of the clerk's annual budget.

Janet Donohue was hired and trained by Kathy Cory, herself recognized as one of the best clerks in the state, and Janet was later unanimously appointed by Supervisor Parsons and the Town Board to succeed her.

Janet has a record of involvement with Lewisboro’s community organizations, youth athletics and schools, and a personality well-suited to a position that often requires sensitivity.

One wonders what in Mr. Morris’ background as a political operative and home-based freelance editor qualifies him for this important job.

For me, voting for Janet will be an easy choice on Nov. 6.
