The following letter to the editor was submitted and written in its entirety by Sean Degidon of White Plains. Jeremiah Frei-Pearson is seeking the Democratic nomination to run for the 89th State Assembly District seat.
To the Editor:
When Jeremiah Frei-Pearson ran for State Assembly in Queens in 2010, his primary opponent called him and his tiny squadron of supporters remarkably thin skinned, and accused him of moving to Astoria specifically to run for office. On this point, there is now bipartisan consensus.
In order to run for State Assembly in Queens in 2010, Jeremiah Frei-Pearson relocated across the borough, to a vacant seat in the district of former Assemblyman Michael Gianaris, from his home in the district of Assemblywoman Margaret Markey where he had lived from 2003-2010. After said move, Mr. Frei-Pearson went to great lengths to hide this. By relocating himself yet again to Westchester in 2012, with the specific intent of running for office, Frei-Pearson displays a pattern of carpetbagging.
Another reader recently pointed out that while Mr. Frei-Pearson told the press that he is from Northern Westchester, his campaign biography says that he has lived in Astoria since graduating from law school, and actually lived in Queens since 2003. Frei-Pearson told local media that he grew up in Northern Westchester, when another biography says that he grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, until his family moved to New York State when he was 16. When this discrepancy was pointed out, he removed said material from his website.
The only "baseless mud-slinging" revealed in Ms. Morton's letter is her smear that Assemblyman Castelli "has failed to reduce local taxes." The only thing a state assemblyman can do to reduce local taxes is repeal state mandates on local government; an effort of Castelli's which is being blocked by the Assembly's Democratic majority - the majority Mr. Frei-Pearson wants to enlarge! Pointing out the inconsistencies in Frei-Pearsons claims is not a "personal attack."
If Jeremiah Frei-Pearson can invent facts about his own life for political expediency, then what may we expect if he attains public office?
