Five Questions With Court Clerk Elizabeth DeFaber

LEWISBORO – Lewisboro Court Clerk Elizabeth DeFaber is probably someone you’d rather not meet. Chances are, if you do, it’s because you have some business before the town justice. However, DeFaber’s 1,000-watt smile and bubbly persona will likely calm your nerves if you find yourself having to navigate the local legal system.

DeFaber’s job keeping the legal system’s wheels turning smoothly and efficiently for Lewisboro keep her pretty busy. However, she was more than happy to take a timeout and spend a few minutes with us answering five questions.

Q: What is it you like best about your job as court clerk?

A: There’s something different that happens every day. It never gets dull. For example, yesterday was a regular day and then, all of a sudden, we had an arraignment at 3:30 in the afternoon.

Q: What’s the most challenging aspect of your job?

A: First, you have to understand the laws. But also, it’s having to deal with difficult defendants. Sometimes the situations can be dicey. You have to learn to deal with them appropriately.

Q: What do you like best about living in Lewisboro?

A: I grew up here. It’s a small town where you know everybody. Plus, it’s nice having a five-minute commute to work.

Q: What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?

A: I’m very family oriented. I like to hang out with my twin nieces – they’re one year old. I like to paint too. I use acrylics. I used to have a fantasy about being a pastry chef, but with my job I don’t get a lot of time to bake much anymore.

Q: What’s your favorite TV show?

Vampire Dairies! That’s my favorite show and I’m not embarrassed to admit it. It’s fanciful and it gives you a break from reality.
