Looking to alleviate the pain and take back his life, Ed met with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Marshal Peris at Northern Westchester Hospital. "When I first met Dr. Peris, his demeanor was so warm and confident that I felt so much trust," said Ed. "He explained everything and told me it was going to be alright." After taking the time to investigate the source of Ed’s pain, Dr. Peris would perform three separate back surgeries on three different areas of Ed’s spine with the help of his medical team.
Peris is co-director of Northern Westchester Hospital's Orthopedic and Spine Institute, one of the most advanced spine treatment centers in New York. Comprised of spine surgeons, neurosurgeons, sport medicine and pain management specialists and physical therapists, the institute provides an array of minimally invasive procedures designed to help patients quickly return to everyday life.
Most recently, Ed underwent surgery to install artificial cervical implants, which marks the final step in his journey to becoming pain-free. "I have no headaches, no numbness feeling in either arm or elbow and my tricep is so much better and stronger," he said. Most importantly, thanks to the work of Peris and NWH, Ed has experienced a boost in his emotional well-being.
"My life has changed so much," said Ed. "Everyday I think about how good I feel."
