Lewisboro Library To Host Jazz Fundraising Gala

SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. – Area aficionados of fine books, music, food and wine will have a chance to enjoy them all, as well as help a good cause, on Friday night by attending the Lewisboro Library’s benefit, “Jazz, Soul & A Taste of Lewisboro.”

The evening’s program includes an appearance by The Jazz Soul Coalition, featuring music producer and jazz vibraphonist Steve Shapiro, who has recorded with Steely Dan, Phil Collins and Whitney Houston. The group includes world-renowned jazz bassist Mark Egan and drummer Joel Rosenblatt, known for his work with Blood, Sweat & Tears, Bill Evans, Spyrogyra, and others.

Special guests will include vocalist Vaneese Thomas, who has sung with major artists, including Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson and Sting; and saxophonist Andy Snitzer, a member of Paul Simon's band who has toured and recorded with other major acts including the Rolling Stones.

The evening’s menu offers samplings of fine fare from local eateries. Sponsoring businesses include Crowley Cheese, The Daily Dish, Fifth Division Market, and The Horse & Hound.

"We are fortunate to have so much talent in Lewisboro, including authors, artists, musicians and culinary experts,” said Cindy Rubino, library director. “We’re grateful to all who are lending their skills to our benefit, and we invite the community to join us for what’s sure to be a memorable evening. The support will help us ensure the library’s ongoing operations, as well as future acquisitions, programs and events.”

Table seating for the show is already sold out, but general seating is still available at $25 per person, and tickets may be reserved in advance or purchased at the door.

The show starts at 8 p.m. at the Lewisboro Library, 15 Main St. in South Salem.
