SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. – Around 30 people attended Friday night's screening of “Bag It” at the Lewisboro Library, the first in the Lewisboro Sustainability Committee's environmental film series that it's presenting in partnership with the library.

Sustainably Committee Chair Heather Flournoy said there was a lively discussion that “organically happened" after the 73-minute film was shown.

"When people see something inspiring that raises as many questions as this film does, they want to talk about it with the others who just experienced it,” she said. “It’s about things we can influence and the health of our children, and that’s something that inspires people to action. That's not something that movie theaters facilitate, so a library is a great place to show a film like this so neighbors can connect with neighbors they didn't know before or else didn't realize they had a philosophical connection with.”

"Bag It" ( http://www.bagitmovie.com/ ) has been garnering awards at film festivals across the nation. What started as a documentary about plastic bags evolved into a wholesale investigation into plastics and their effect on waterways, oceans, and even the human body.

For more information about the environmental film series and upcoming screenings, call the library at 914-763-3857.
