Cognitive Cuisine Brings Healthy Food To Westchester Schools

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- New York Cognitive Cuisine, a food service company that delivers healthy, scratch-made meals to children at schools and day-care centers in the upper Hudson Valley has expanded its services to schools in Westchester County.

Cognitive Cuisine, which began preparing food like its Veggie Burrito for school children in upstate Hyde Park, is now serving Putnam and Westchester counties.

Cognitive Cuisine was designed to give parents the convenience of providing lunch for their children every day, with the peace of mind that they are getting healthy, nourishing meals that kids will happily eat.

"We've had a lot of success in the upper Hudson Valley and are expanding to cover Westchester and Putnam," Cognitive Cuisine's creator and former school teacher Izzy Fattore said. "We can provide healthy, from-scratch lunches at school economically. As a teacher I learned that childhood obesity was growing problem and as a former restaurant owner I knew we could do better for our kids."

Cognitive Cuisine is already working with the Goddard School in Yorktown Heights and other Westchester schools.

Frattore said Meals are prepared daily by a Culinary Institute of America trained chef and all recipes are developed under the guidance of a registered dietitian.

"Our meals do not contain any processed foods and every menu item contains the full nutritional breakdown and highlights items that are gluten-free or comply with food allergies or sensitivities," Frattore said.

Parents can order meals from 8 a.m. the morning of delivery and up to two weeks in advance. In the case of illness, snow days or one of the many other unforeseen events families encounter, parents are able to cancel their orders by 8 a.m. for a full refund.

Cognitive Cuisine has two ways to join their program: the individual boxed lunch plan where parents simply create an account on the website, choose from a variety of wholesome kid-approved meals, pay online and Cognitive Cuisine transports the food fresh and hot to the child.

School administrators can sign on with Cognitive Cuisine to prepare and deliver family style breakfast and lunches in chafing dishes for all of the children at the school, to create a cafeteria-style dining experience.

Cognitive Cuisine works to balance taste and nutrition to ensure children are satisfied and well nourished. Registered Dietitian, Amy Rosenfeld is co-founder of Your Secret Ingredient, a nutrition consulting firm that works with corporations, the food industry, and education programs to inspire living nutritiously from stove top to tabletop.

Executive Chef Robert Morano prepares everything from the honey wheat bread to the roasted meats on a daily basis.
