SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. – As part of its summer lecture series, the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem will hold a talk entitled, “The Search for the Eastern Cougar,” Saturday, Aug. 27, at 6 p.m.

The talk will be hosted by Chris Spatz of the Cougar Rewilding Foundation.

The search for the eastern cougar is one of the great riddles in North American natural history - a riddle that has fascinated area communities since the recent and rare sighting of the cat in Greenwich, Conn.

Spatz will talk about the behavior, biology, and current range of this elusive cat and why this magnificent predator is imperative for the recovery of critically declining eastern forests.

After the talk guests will visit the Wolf Center’s ambassador wolves Atka, Alawa, and Zephyr, as well as the WCC's critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves.  Alawa and Zephyr just turned four months old, so don't forget a camera.

Pre-registration is required.  Call the Wolf Center at (914) 763-2373 or log onto www.nywolf.org.
