Monday, Oct. 15

LEGOs Creation Club: 4:30 p.m. The Lewisboro Library’s LEGOs Creation Club will meet at the library. Registration is required. Call the library at 914-761-3857. 15 Main St., South Salem.

Town Board Workshop: 7:30 p.m. The Town Board will hold a workshop meeting at the Lewisboro Library. Agenda items include a discussion of the 2013 budget. 15 Main St., South Salem.

Tuesday, Oct. 16

Coffee and Conversation: 7:30 a.m. The Counseling Center will host a Coffee and Conversation at John Jay High School for the parents of ninth-graders. Reservations are required; email demcloughlin@klschools.org . North Salem Road, Cross River.

Fiction Writing Workshop: 7 - 8:30 p.m. Author Kim Kovach (“A Few Bad Decisions,” “The Adventures of Kitchawan Kenny”) returns to the Lewisboro Library with creative ways to explore character development, point of view, dialogue and setting to make your fiction writing come alive. Expand your writing skills with the use of challenging and creative in-class writing exercises and homework assignments. Registration is required for this adult program. Vista Fire Department Budget Vote: 7:30 - 9 p.m. The Vista Fire District will hold its budget vote at the firehouse. 377 Smith Ridge Road, South Salem.

Lewisboro Adults Seniors Meeting: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The seniors will hold their regular weekly meeting at the South Salem firehouse. For more information, contact senior adult director Pam Veith at 914-232-6162. 1190 Route 35, South Salem.

Mother Goose Time: 10:30 a.m. The Lewisboro Library’s Mother Goose time presents songs and stories for newborns up to 20 months old. Call the library at 914-761-3857 for more information. 15 Main St., South Salem.

Thursday, Oct. 18

Ten Steps to Detox Your Home and Garden: 7 p.m. A Lewisboro Library presentation by Dr. Gary Ginsberg, author of “What’s Toxic, What’s Not.” Ginsberg will discuss consumer and cleaning products, pesticides, and food and the concepts of sustainability. A toxicologist at the Connecticut Department of Public Health, he also teaches at the UConn Health Center and at Yale University. Ginsberg has appeared on the “Dr. Oz” TV show and has his own blog page on The Huffington Post. Registration is required. Call the library at 914-761-3857. Friday, Oct. 19

John Jay Cancer Awareness Fundraiser : 7 p.m. A concert fundraiser for cancer awareness will be held in the memory of Kyla Tillem, a junior at John Jay High School who died in April from a rare pediatric cancer. The concert will be held at the John Jay High School Theatre. Tickets will be sold this week in the John Jay High School cafeteria. Email jjhsbenefitconcert@yahoo.com to reserve tickets, which are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Proceeds will go to a scholarship in Tillem's name at The Ballet School of Stamford, a nonprofit dance school where Tillem was a student. The performers will be mostly John Jay students, and the ballet school will also perform a short piece.
