CROSS RIVER, N.Y. – The Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation as set its event calendar for September.

Walking and hiking themes range from wildflowers to bird watching to local ecological events. Some events may require preregistration, so call the Museum at (914) 864-7322 for more information. 

Asters and Goldenrods – Saturday, Sept.10, 10 a.m.While wildflowers bloom throughout the spring and summer in the Reservation, it is this time of year that the latest flowers are finally blooming. Join us as we hike around the meadows at the Reservation in search of the yellows, whites, purples, and other colors of these beautiful plants.

Naturalist's Choice Hike – Saturday, Sept. 17, 1 p.m.Seasonal climate and weather will help play a role in deciding where this hike will take us. Join a museum naturalist as they select a trail and topic to find some of the exciting ecological events that take place.

Fall Migration Bird Walk – Saturday, Sept. 24, 9 a.m.As photoperiod declines, the birds are cued into beginning their long treks southward. Catch a glimpse of some of these birds, including hawks, as they pause to fuel up for the arduous journey.

Ward Pound Ridge Reservation is located at the intersection of Route 35 and Route 121 in Cross River.
