RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – The Steve Shapiro Trio featuring Mark Egan and Shane Theriot is performing at Sarah’s Wine Bar Saturday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m.
The trio is a jazz/unplugged rock band led by South Salem resident Shapiro on vibraphone, with Katonah’s Theriot on guitar and New Canaan’s Egan on fretless bass.
Shapiro is a composer, producer and jazz vibraphonist. He has recorded with artists such as Steely Dan, Regina Belle, Ornette Coleman, Spyrogyra and They Might Be Giants. In addition to his role as a performer, Shapiro has composed and arranged hundreds of projects for television, film and Disney.
Theriot is a Grammy-winning producer, guitarist and composer who hails from the New Orleans area. At 25, he joined the world-renowned Neville Brothers, touring and performing internationally as a member for eight years. He is currently working as the music director for Daryl Hall's award winning television show "Live from Daryl's House" as well as performing with Daryl Hall and John Oates. Among the artists has recorded and/or performed with are Willie Nelson, Jewel, Beyonce, Rickie Lee Jones, Boz Scaggs, John Waite, Branford Marsalis and more. He has composed for ESPN, MTV, VH1, Food Network and others.
Egan is considered to be one of the most respected and in-demand electric bassists on the music scene today. With three platinum and three gold albums to his credit, Egan has recorded with the likes of the Pat Metheny Group, Sting, Arcadia, Roger Daltry and Joan Osborne. He has his musical prowess to such movies and television shows as “Aladdin,” “The Color Of Money,” “A Chorus Line,” NBC Sports, ABC’s “All My Children,” CNN/Headline News and numerous award-winning television commercials.
