Plenty of Choices for Weekend Activities

If you are wondering what to do this weekend in the Pound Ridge and Lewisboro area, you won’t be lacking for choices.

The area is supposed to get a reprieve from the oppressive heat, so it will be a good weekend to get out and enjoy what the area has to offer.

The Pound Ridge Library offers its Films on Friday series. This week’s film is “Secretariat.” The film begins at 10:30 a.m. and attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch to enjoy after the show. No reservations are required. The library is located at 271 Westchester Ave. Call (914) 764-5085 for more information.

The Pound Ridge PTA will sponsor its annual Family Fun Festival at the Pound Ridge town park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be food, including hot dogs and hamburgers. There will also be  carnival games, including a dunk tank, giant slide and hoop shot. The rain date is Monday. This is a PTA fundraising event.

The Vista Fire Department will hold an open house in conjunction with a blood drive at its firehouse at 337 Smithridge Road in South Salem from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is an opportunity for residents to check out the newly renovated firehouse, which recently completed a $4 million makeover, and give blood to the New York Blood Center. Those looking to donate blood should bring a photo ID with them. Call (914) 533-7153 for more information.

The Pound Ridge Library will hold its Second Saturday Review of Literature at 10:30 a.m. in conjunction with the Monthly Book Club Review. This month’s book is “Great House” by Nicole Krauss. Copies of the book selection are available at the library. Call (914) 764-5085 for more information.

The Nicholas Festival will be held at the Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard, which was previously known as Outhouse Orchards, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 130 Hardscrabble Road in North Salem. There will be food, pony rides, face painting, hay rides, bouncy castles, story time and a silent auction, plus live entertainment. Admission is $20. For more information, visit
