She will share what happens during a pediatric neurology consultation, when there is need for further testing, principles of concussion management along with the short-term and long-term complications of concussions. She will also review the current recommendations from the American Academy of Neurology.
This discussion, part of the hospital’s ongoing speaker series, will focus on sports and recreation-related brain injuries, specifically concussions, among children and adolescents. Parents, coaches and athletic trainers are all encouraged to attend.
Alshansky is board certified in Neurology with special qualifications in Child Neurology, and is a pediatric neurologist who has recently joined Mount Kisco Medical Group.
Alshansky received her medical degree from Leningrad Pediatric Medical School in St. Petersburg Russia and completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at City Children's Hospital #4 in Leningrad/St. Petersburg. She also completed both a residency and fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Long Island Jewish Medical Center and Schneider's Children’s Hospital.
