Kenneth Regan, 21, of Centereach, was virtually arraigned on Wednesday, March 25, and charged with murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas

Douglas Coudrey, 22, of Eastport, was arraigned on Thursday, March 12 and charged with murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

The two men were charged in connection with the January 14 seat of 27-year-old Justin Gottlieb of Plainview, the DA's Office said.

According to statements made in court, Gottlieb was in his vehicle, heading home from work in Jericho and was near his home on Margaret Drive East, when a white vehicle, allegedly operated by the defendants drove up next to his car. The defendants then allegedly fired a .9mm handgun at Gottlieb, striking him twice, once in the leg and once in the chest.

After the shooting, Gottlieb ran into his parent’s home nearby and told his father that he was followed home by a white vehicle and that he had been shot.

Gottlieb was then transported by ambulance to Plainview Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 6:40 p.m.

“These defendants are accused of following Justin Gottlieb home following a road rage incident and senselessly shooting him to death,” Singas said. “I’m grateful to our detectives for tracking down these alleged murderers so we can bring justice to the Gottlieb family.”

The two were arrested by Nassau County County police on Feb. 6 at the Riverhead Correctional Facility where they were being held for an unrelated incident.

Both men are being held without bond.

Regan is due back in court on May 11. If convicted of the top count, he faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison. Coudrey is set to appear in court on April 7. He also faces 25 years to life in prison.
