Entitled "Throwing Injuries and the Youth Athlete: Prevention and Treatment," the forum will be held on Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the NWH Conference Center in Mount Kisco.

Dr. Michael A. Gott, an orthopedic surgeon with Westchester Sport and Spine, and Karl Rusch, a board certified orthopedic physical therapist at NWH’s Chappaqua Crossing will examine common youth shoulder injuries and discuss prevention, rehab treatment options and orthopedic surgical management.

The event will be hosted by two community volunteers, Tracey Matson and Meredith Abt.

Tracey and her husband Kevin are Pound Ridge residents and have children in grades 10, 7 and 6. The Matsons have been involved with the Bedford Village Chowder and Marching, St. Patrick’s Catholic Youth Organization and the Bedford Central School District’s Role Model Mentors program, which matches high achieving high school students with younger children in the community.

Abt is a longtime Bedford resident, having graduated from Fox Lane High School. Today, she and her husband Peter have three girls in grades 10, 7 and 4. Meredith sits on the board of Fox Lane Youth Lacrosse and is the program director for grades K-8. She is also a five year member of the Bedford Library town board.

The event is $10 per person and registration is required.
