“I was honored that Ms. Grimaud agreed to perform with us in memory of Bob [McDonald],” said Choral Director Benjamin Niemczyk. The late Robert C. McDonald was an active community leader, one of the Oratorio’s founders, and a volunteer at the South Salem’s Wolf Conservation Center, co-founded by North Salem resident Grimaud.

The June concert is dedicated to McDonald’s memory. “The ‘Choral Fantasy’ is a great tribute,” said Niemczyk. “The piece is a celebration of nature and art, and just as Bob was involved with many aspects of the local community, it brings together many diverse elements, highlighting solo piano, chorus and orchestra, while the text celebrates the gift of music, comparing its power to that of the springtime sun.”

The program will also include Brahms’s “Schicksalslied,” Op. 54, and selections from Beethoven’s “Christus am Oelberge,” Op. 85. Soloists will include Roseanne Ackerley, Jane Buchi, Leanne Gonzalez-Singer, Marc Molomot, Peter Buchi and Matthew Singer.

Tickets for the Robert C. McDonald Memorial Concert are $25 and $50. It will take place in the Theater at John Jay Middle School, Cross River, beginning at 4 p.m.
