Katonah's Caramoor Opens with Mendelssohn and Violinist Gil Shaham

Katonah's Caramoor opens its season on June 23 at 8:30 p.m. with a presentation of Mendelssohn's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" performed by the Orchestra of St. Luke's, with Roberto Abbado conducting. Violinnist Gil Shaham is the soloist. Shaham was awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 1990, and in 2008 he received the coveted Avery Fisher Award. The San Francisco Chronicle wrote about him, "Shaham's gifts as a violinist, ... involve hair-trigger responsiveness and restless intelligence ..." Concert tickets are $15-$85. A Gala Opening Night celebration and fundraiser includes pre-concert cocktails, dinner and prime seats for the performance. These tickets start at $600. For more information, visit Caramoor's website.
