Lewisboro Commemorates Fallen Servicemen On Memorial Day

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – Lewisboro is celebrating Memorial Day in more ways than one this year.

In Goldens Bridge the John B. Winter American Legion Post invites people to gather in the MetroNorth parking lot at 10:45 a.m. to proceed to the Goldens Bridge Community House, where Memorial Day Services will begin at 11 a.m. Cyclists are urged to decorate their bikes for the occasion.

Following the welcoming speech by Legionnaire Glenn Myers, the Reverend Gene Ott will give the Invocation and Lewisboro Town Board Member Frank Kelly, a Lieutenant Colonel in the U. S. Army Reserve will deliver a Speech of Remembrance. The Scouts will lay wreaths, and music will be provided by singer Annamarie Sant and Dan Sant.

Refreshments will be served afterwards, courtesy of the Goldens Bridge Volunteer Fire Department.

Another parade is scheduled in South Salem, where marchers will gather at 11:45 a.m. on Lake Shore Drive at the south end of Truesdale Lake and proceed at 12:15 p.m. to the Town House, 11 Main Street. Supervisor Peter Parsons will greet the crowd, the Reverend Ott will give the Invocation and music will be provided by the Mt. Kisco Scottish Pipes and Drums, singer Jilli Schell and Tom Gossett and Paul Persichette playing Taps.

The guest speaker will be Lt. Colonel Christopher Rust, U. S. Marine Corps Reserve and here, too, the Lewisboro Scouts will lay wreaths.
