Woman brought to Humc wasn’t infected with Ebola, state health officials say

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: State health officials tonight told CLIFFVIEW PILOT that a woman taken to Hackensack University Medical Center tonight was not infected with the Ebola virus.

The HUMC emergency room was on lockdown as Union County EMS arrived with the patient around 8:50 p.m.

No other ambulances were allowed in the parking lot as medical workers in hazardous material suits brought her into a quarantine area of the ER.

HUMC is designated as an “assessment hospital” where potential Ebola patients receive care for up to four days while awaiting results of a blood test.

Just before 11 p.m., a source told CLIFFVIEW PILOT that the hospitalization was apparently a precaution.

Moments later, Donna Leusner of the state Department of Health sent an email that said: “There is no potential Ebola patient at Hackensack University Medical
Center.”
