Parents and coaches from all youth sports were invited to hear a presentation from Katherine Price Snedaker, LMSW.

Snedaker, a Norwalk resident, is an expert on concussions in youth sports. She is member of both the National Sports Concussion Coalition and the Advisory Council for Protecting Athletes and Sports Safety initiative, an adviser to the National Council on Youth Sports Safety, Inc., and the principal behind PinkConcussions.com, SportsCAPP.com and TheConcussionConference.com.

"I enjoy working with Aspetuck Youth Football," Snedaker said. "As a concussion expert and the mother of three sons who play multiple sports, I think it's imperative that kids continue to play team sports, and do so with organizations like Aspetuck that have worked to make concussion awareness and response a top priority."

"Katherine's yearly updates and advice on current concussion protocol is invaluable to our continuing mission to keep our youth athletes safe and their parents informed" said John Shaban, President of the Aspetuck Wildcats Association.  "For years we have worked with Katherine, USA Football, and the medical community in general to make concussion awareness a top priority.  More youth concussions are suffered off the field than on, so proper concussion recognition, response and healing is vital to the general welfare of our kids." Aspetuck Wildcats is the AYF chartered youth football and cheer program for Easton, Redding and Weston, and has been in existence since 1998.  For more information go to www.wildcatsfootball.com.
