The department’s “Christmas Tree Shop,” staffed by volunteer members, is open for business from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every weekend and 4-9 p.m. weekdays at the GBFD’s property on Route 138 in Goldens Bridge.

The proceeds of the tree sale are used by the department for charitable donations to several local community organizations, such as Boy Scout Troop 154, and toward the needs of the department.

Goldens Bridge Fire Department members Rob Melillo and Walter Hughes are co-chairmen of the Christmas tree sale fundraising effort.

"You’re not just purchasing a Christmas tree, you are supporting your local fire department and community organizations – and you’re getting something in return for your contribution,” Melillo said.

“Residents look forward to this every year. It has become a tradition for the department and families in our community ever since we began selling trees 15 years ago,” he added.

Higher-quality and longer-lasting Fraser firs, ranging in height from 5 feet to 9 feet, are available for $60 and up. In addition to trees, other items for sale include festive foliage, such as wreaths and rope garland for the fireplace mantle and stairway railing, an assortment of tree care products and even small bundles of firewood to set the mood when you are trimming the tree.

Department members will deliver one's purchases free of charge in the local area to senior residents and in the case of large orders.

Santa will be there on weekends and children will get a bird’s eye view of the fire engines in the department’s temporary garage center.

Those who want to place a special order, including trees over 9 feet in height, can call the department at 914-329-4375.
